How to Box
If you have ever wondered why boxers are some of the most physically fit athletes in the world, all you have to do is look at the training regimen they go through. They have to train longer and harder than their competition and have to push themselves beyond all limits they have achieved in the past. The following are the 6 elements required during training so that you can learn how to box.
- It’s all about cardio fitness to begin with – we cannot stress enough how important it is to have a strong heart and lungs so you don’t get fatigued during the fight.
- Proper eating and sleeping – a balanced diet combined with 8 hours of sleep every night is a primary requirement when you are learning how to box.
- Practice, practice, and practice some more – whether you are jumping rope, shadow boxing, or throwing punches, what matters is the repetition encountered.
- Train longer than the length of the fight – for instance, when you are prepping yourself for an upcoming 3 round bout, train as if you are fighting 5 rounds.
- Don’t get discouraged if you plateau – many boxers in training get discouraged when they plateau. The best thing to do if this happens to you is to take a couple of days off and just relax.
- Use perfect form whenever possible – when you are being repetitive in your training techniques, make sure that your form is perfect so that you are doing it correctly.
Remember that the dedication and hard work that is required when you are learning how to box is what leads to success. It’s all about dedication, desire, and determination.
