CARBS AND CALORIE BURN ARE CARBS BAD?

Not all carbohydrates (carbs) are bad. Complex carbs found in whole grain breads, beans, pasta, fruits and vegetables are very good because they keep your blood sugar level stable for longer periods of time. Complex carbs typically have a low calorie density and are abundant in high fiber foods. Complex carbs will keep your energy level higher and give you that "full" feeling.

Simple carbs found in over processed and junk food behave just the opposite of complex carbs. Read the label and buy foods that use whole grain. Most wheat bread and pasta use enriched wheat, not whole wheat. Enriched or bleached wheat is not much different than regular white flour.

CALORIE BURN

More movement equals more calorie burn. There is no easy way or magic formula to get around this. Your level of insulin does play a role in how much fat your body will burn. Some diets recommend keeping insulin levels in a certain zone to achieve maximum fat burn. This is a very acceptable approach but controlling your overall calorie intake by way of a balance diet is much more realistic than trying to control your level of insulin to a predetermined level.

The Real Reason We Eat

We eat for many different reasons but not always for the right reason. Most people choose food purely based on taste, and that’s fine because food was meant for enjoyment. However, if we make food decisions based on taste alone, without regard to nutrition, then gaining weight is inevitable. Changing eating habits demand consideration of nutritional value as well as the amount of calorie and fat. Strive to eat foods that are low in fat. Learn to read labels so you can make good decisions. Every packaged food product has a label that will tell you the nutritional value, calorie and fat content. As you gain experience reading labels, you won.t be fooled by clever and deceptive marketing techniques used to get more of your money. Foods that have the words "light" on the package can still have a high amount of fat and calories. "Fat-free" does not mean you can eat all you want just because it has no fat. Many fat free foods are loaded with sugar and are high in calories. Eating patterns remain the same as we grow from childhood to adulthood. If you were raised on sugar and high fat foods, chances are good that you still eat the same today. Unfortunately, our metabolism tends to slow down as we age and many adults get the "middle age spread" by their mid thirties. The amount of fat keeps building as we get older unless the cycle is broken by good eating habits or exercise, preferably both.
